After Liverpool, it’s now time for Manchester United to be linked with Fluminense wonderkid João Pedro.
According to Brazilian outlet Lance, the Red Devils have also initiated contact to know about the 17-year-old’s situation at the club.
João Pedro is supposed to sign for Watford next year, but there’s a clause in his contract which says that if the Hornets are paid €20m, then Fluminense can sell him to somewhere else.
This clause was revealed in a report from Globo Esporte, and now Lance confirms it too. They also confirm Liverpool’s interest, and add the Old Trafford side to the list of pretenders.
Watford have paid €2.5m to get an agreement with Fluminense so João Pedro can join them in 2020. Another €7.5m are set to be paid in transfer bonuses.
So if Liverpool, Manchester United or any other club offers €30m, including the €20m fine to be paid to the Hornets, that means a more profitable deal for Fluminense. More details on this clause can be found here.
João Pedro has scored seven goals in his first ten games as a professional, including a hat-trick in an Copa Sudamericana match against Atletico Nacional this week.
This is the second Fluminense attacker who Man United have been asking about. Lance says the Red Devils also made an approach for the 21-year-old striker Pedro, which had already been reported by Globo Esporte as.
Maybe they asked for the wrong Pedro first time.
