On Tuesday evening, Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte reported Manchester City’s offer for West Ham United star Lucas Paquetá.
The website claimed Pep Guardiola’s side put £70m on the table for the signing.
Now even though reports from the French media have been saying the talks between Manchester City and West Ham are progressing well, we see a colder slant from the Brazilian press.
Globo Esporte is back with a new story, this time saying the Hammers turned down the Citizen’s offer for Paquetá.
It’s claimed it was ‘already expected’ West Ham would turn that amount down. That’s taken as a ‘first bid’, and Manchester City are expected to come with a new attempt in the ‘coming days’.
According to the story, the Hammers believe that they can ‘profit more’ with Paquetá’s sale this summer.
There’s no information on how much David Moyes’ side demand for the midfielder, or even how much Manchester City are planning to put on the table with their next offer.
So with some optimism from the French media, it’s interesting to see that the Brazilian press takes the situation more carefully.
