Leeds United star Raphinha has turned down the club’s offer for a contract renewal, according to claims from the Brazilian media.
UOL today writes that to sign a new deal, the winger wants the Whites to reduce the price of his release clause, which it’s said currently stands at around £70m.
The story claims the player recently had ‘concrete approaches’ from the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Liverpool. And in his view, that price harms his chances of getting a move in the near future.
According to UOL, however, Leeds are not interested in decreasing the release clause. That’s why the talks were paused for now, with no date set for a new round of talks.
The story claims that despite not being willing to attend to Raphinha’s request regarding the release clause, the Elland Road side are still working hard to keep the player at the club, offering to nearly double his wages.
Raphinha has a contract with Leeds running until June 2024.
