Philippe Coutinho’s endless saga got a lot hotter during the holidays, with reports from England, Spain and Brazil all having updates on Barcelona’s efforts to take the midfielder from Liverpool.

Now Esporte Interativo reporter Marcelo Bechler has a few takes after the recent news, separating the things he knows to be true or not.

He made his report in a sequence of tweets, which later became an article on Esporte Interativo’s website.

Bechler claims that the transfer process got ‘slower’ after the Nike episode, which was pretty ‘tiring’ for all the parties involved.

He also says that between Liverpool, Barcelona and the player’s entourage, the biggest optimism comes from the agents, who are Kia Joorabchian’s group. Barça are also said to have ‘good feelings’ about the transfer.

Regarding the player’s injury, which has left him out of the game against Burnley and should make him miss a few more matches, Bechler claims Coutinho is genuinely unable to play due to a thigh problem.

That means this is a different case from the summer window, when Coutinho allegedly couldn’t play for Liverpool because of a back injury but seemed fine when called up for the Brazilian national team.
