Brazilian side Atlético Mineiro are reportedly working to sign the Chelsea winger Nathan de Souza.

According to website Globo Esporte this Friday, club director Alexandre Gallo has travelled to Europe to try to get the deal done.

The outlet also managed to speak to Nathan’s father and agent, who didn’t confirm the negotiations, saying the player is currently training with Chelsea and his future isn’t defined.

Globo Esporte claims that Atlético had already tried to sign Nathan in January, but he ended up moving to Portuguese side Belenenses on a loan deal.

At the time, Gallo said: “We agreed almost everything and, for a personal detail, his family, in the end, this arrival didn’t happen”.

In the past few days, we’ve been covering some reports from Portugal saying that Belenenses would like to extend his loan, but are having a hard time negotiating with Chelsea.

So everything makes sense now, as the Blues are probably thinking about the best option for Nathan’s future. It’s worth pointing out that Globo Esporte doesn’t say if Atlético are interested in a loan or a permanent deal.
