The news coming from England saying Arsenal would be interested in Grêmio defender Walter Kannemann made quite a noise in Brazil this weekend.

Most sports outlets have covered the claims which said the Gunners would need to pay £10m to sign the Argentine international.

Now besides covering the story, UOL added some extra information which backs up Arsenal’s chase for the 28-year-old.

Their report claims that back in January, a representative from the English side was seeking information about Kannemann.

However, despite the contact made, the talks haven’t reached Grêmio.

It’s said that Grêmio know nothing about Arsenal’s interest, both from January or from the recent claims.

UOL highlights Kannemann’s importance in the squad, as the player got a contract extension this year, with a pay raise and a new expiry date of 2022. Other clubs such as Independiente, Boca Juniors and Flamengo all tried to sign Kannemann, but Grêmio turned down all the attempts.
