Brazilian side Atlético-MG are prepared to sell right-back Emerson in the January transfer window, according to reports this Wednesday.

Website UOL says the club have a financial goal for 2019, and selling the player would be a great step for the start of the year.

Speaking of the interested sides, UOL mentions Arsenal, Chelsea, Barcelona and Betis. Gunners and Blues interest was reported a couple of months ago, and comes up again now.

The outlet writes that both Premier League sides have scouted the player a few times in the Brazilian league last season, and are two of the contenders for him.

Atlético-MG currently have 62.5% of Emerson’s economical rights, and if selling in January, 12.5% would go to his former club Ponte Preta, meaning they would only get half of the fee. In the summer, they would get their complete percentage.

Maybe that’s a reason to hold until the summer, although UOL sounds pretty confident that a January sale would be no surprise, as the club have prepared back-up options for the position already.
