Around a year ago, Bayern Munich were burning through their list of wanted managers and struggling to find a candidate who both accepted the job and who would be released by his club.
Fortunately for Vincent Kompany, none of those above him on the list ticked those two boxes and that gave the Belgian the incredibly fortunate opportunity to leave relegated Burnley for a Champions League club.
It’s worked out pretty well, Bayern Munich have won the Bundesliga but haven’t done what they’ll have wanted in other competitions. There have been some murmurs of doubt about Kompany, although that’s always the case at a club like Bayern.
Bild now report the manager is close to receiving a setback.
One of the coaches he took from Burnley to Bayern is Bram Geers, and he’s considered central to the manager’s work. Bild explain Geers is far more than a fitness trainer, and regularly leads training.
RSC Anderlecht want him and Geers is tempted to return to Belgium.
