According to claim in the German media, Chelsea made a ‘lucrative offer’ to sign Hamburg forward Fiete Arp this summer.

The 17 year old has been linked with the Premier League club in recent months, but the Germany youth international has now committed himself to Hamburg.

Hamburger Morgenpost have today reported on Arp’s situation at Hamburg, with suggestions the youngster could make his debut for the German side this season. With injuries and the departure of Pierre-Michel Lasogga to Leeds United, Arp could be given his chance by the Bundesliga side.

Arp has been described as a player for the future, and Hamburg icon Horst Hrubesch has said the forward “has something”.

However, Hamburg risked losing Arp this summer, with Chelsea in the mix to sign the young forward. Due to his contract situation at Hamburg, Chelsea were looking to move in on Arp, with claims they offered the player a contract.

Despite the interest from Chelsea, Arp took the decision to extend his contract with the German side earlier this summer, which ties him to the club until June 2019.
