Rafa Mújica’s decision to join Real Oviedo on loan from Leeds United last summer turned out to be an absolute disaster.
The striker was restricted to only five appearances in all competitions and failed to start in the league this season.
Lack of opportunities saw the Whites player leave Real Oviedo and join UD Las Palmas on a temporary deal.
After being heavily linked to Pepe Mel’s side for weeks, he completed a move to the Segunda División club on deadline day of the winter market.
Las Palmas president Miguel Ángel Ramírez was interviewed by COPE Gran Canaria, where he talked about the Leeds man, when discussing the club’s latest additions.
The report states the second division club’s chief was ‘satisfied’ with Mújica’s return to the club.
“We must also value the arrival of Mújica, the boy is very excited and after a great evolution in the years he has been away. He is a player who does not need adaptation and we are sure that he will give us a lot,” Ramírez explained.
Meanwhile, Real Oviedo manager José Ángel Ziganda was in full praise of Mújica, despite him struggling at the club in the first half of the season.
“The casualties are players who were not participating much. As usual, they were anxious to find a new team. I thank them for the respect they have had with us and with the team, it has been a luxury to be with them, I wish them the best. The behaviour of Aburjania, Cedric and Rafa (Mujica) has been exquisite,” Ziganda was quoted as saying by COPE.
