Could Eddie Howe’s and Bournemouth’s need for a defensive midfielder pave the way for an unexpected return home?

Bought by Craig Shakespeare, Vicente Iborra wasn’t a regular under Claude Puel at Leicester City last season, spending more time on the bench than on the pitch once Adrien Silva could play.

At 30 years of age, the situation is far from ideal for the Spaniard, who will be wanting to play as much as possible, but the rumours taking him away from King Power Stadium haven’t exactly been rife.

However, there is one destination that could open up for him should the club decide to open their wallet, and that’s Levante.

According to Superdeporte journalist Raul Cuello, Iborra would love to return to his former club, expressing his desire to do so as soon as he left for Sevilla.

A few articles appeared back in June about the La Liga side ‘studying the possibility’ of bringing the defensive midfielder back, but nothing has really come from them.

Cuello believes the easiest way to bring back the fan favourite would be by selling Jefferson Lerma, who has been a target for Bournemouth, and replacing him with the Spaniard.

The same newspaper further pushes Bournemouth interest in a separate online article today.

It would be a like for like transfer, and Iborra would hardly need time to adapt, already knowing the club and the league inside out.

First, however, the Cherries will need to submit a good enough offer, which has yet to happen.
