Over the summer, there were numerous reports that AFC Bournemouth were after a new goalkeeper.

They still had both Artur Boruc and Amir Begović at the time, and new blood was needed, but Eddie Howe, despite attempts to try and sign Bartlomiej Dragowski from Fiorentina, decided to make Aaron Ramsdale the number one.

Things haven’t gone great for the 21-year-old, who has kept just four clean sheets and conceded 40 goals in 26 Premier League appearances this season, but his stats aren’t far off those of the aforementioned Pole, who has kept six clean sheets and conceded 36 in 25 games.

However, despite the number of goals he’s let in, the 22-year-old has one of the best penalty save rates in the league with Gianluigi Donnarumma, and Fiorentina are delighted with him between the sticks.

Corriere Fiorentino remind their readers that Bournemouth were once ‘prepared to pay’ €15m for Dragowski, but the Serie A side turned them away, and swiftly made him sign a new contract keeping him until 2023.

Even if his idol remains Artur Boruc, who currently is under contract at the Vitality Stadium, it seems the Cherries’ chance of signing the Poland U21 international has now passed.
