Norway registered victories over Faroe Islands and Malta in this month’s Euro 2020 qualifiers and AFC Bournemouth’s Joshua King started both fixtures for his national team.

Spain and Sweden qualified for next summer’s UEFA tournament from Group F, meaning Norway wouldn’t have finished in the top two in the group table, irrespective of the outcome against Malta.

The Cherries striker was withdrawn in the 89th minute of that match, after he picked up an injury.

TV2 claims Eddie Howe’s side are unhappy with Norway’s decision to play King in an inconsequential match.

After the tie, the Premier League frontman said his injury is “little sore” and explained he will find out the extent of damage after returning to his club. However, King told TV2 he could be out of action for “two weeks”.

The Bournemouth player also stressed it wasn’t a mistake from Lars Lagerbäck to start him against Malta.

“We didn’t play too much today other than for FIFA ranking, but it wasn’t Lars’ mistake. It was not very fast paced and it was not very tiring to play. However, sometimes you might want to think about it when you’ve played every single game for club and country,” he stressed.

Bournemouth face Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool and Chelsea in their next five matches and losing King for these fixtures could be a big blow for them.
