It isn’t often that a Bournemouth player finds his way into Gazzetta dello Sport’s European Team of the Week. The grand old Italian newspaper each week picks out a selection of the best eleven from around Europe, excluding their own Serie A.
This week there are three from the Premier League, Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez, Chelsea’s Davud Luiz, and Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser.
Fraser only came on in the 55th minute so his inclusion is impressive enough, but he also managed to be the highest rated player of the eleven. The 22 year old got 8.5/10, and given Gazzetta are a lot meaner at handing out good grades than English newspapers, that’s probably nudging a ten.
Winning a penalty, scoring a goal, and then providing an assist, Fraser was crucial for Bournemouth as they came back to beat Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool 4-3.
Gordan Strachan must have some excellent options for Scotland, given that he’s overlooked Fraser repeatedly.
Ahead of the next international break, Aberdeen born Fraser will surely be pencilled into the selection.
