Last season, Bournemouth saw success with Dean Huijsen’s signing from Juventus.

The Cherries have already sold the defender on and earned a significant profit from the sale. It seems as if they are continuing to look at Italian football as a key source for lesser known talents.

Bournemouth’s interest in Spezia defender Nicolo Bertola has now emerged.

SassuoloNews report Andoni Iraola’s side have ‘made some enquiries’ to sign the Italian and there is also interest from major Serie A clubs like Inter Milan, Juventus and Bologna.

Bournemouth probably have some work to do in their move for the 22-year-old defender as Sassuolo, Udinese and Cagliari have already made decisive moves for Bertola.

The Cherries will have to claw their way back into the situation to have a chance of signing the centre-back.

Bertola has played only twice in the Serie A so far in his career but has been an important part of Spezia’s squad in the last two Serie B seasons. In the 2024/25 campaign, he played 28 league games and also showed an ability to play in midfield.
