Although things had been going pretty well for Southampton loanee Sofiane Boufal in La Liga, things have changed a little in the past few days.
Outlet AS reports that the player has lost his starting place for Celta Vigo squad, and the next game should show how important he will be for the rest of the season.
Boufal’s season started on a low, as he wouldn’t find a place in the starting team. However, things changed with the arrival of manager Miguel Cardoso, with Boufal starting eleven games in a row.
However, as written by AS, Cardoso ‘surprised everyone’ by dropping Boufal for the game against Alavés to be able to use a five-defender system.
Celta now play Eibar on Sunday, and AS says that if his change is kept, that’s because Boufal’s status has really downgraded.
And maybe that would have an impact on the club’s choice to sign him from Southampton permanently at the end of the season, as this option is included in the loan contract.
The Saints could end up having Boufal back, with the same also very possible with Cedric Soares.
