Tuesday’s edition of De Telegraaf has a big feature on Tim Krul, making it clear the goalkeeper is quite content where he is right now.

Going with the headline ‘Krul Happy in Norwich’, the Dutch newspaper get their point over early.

The 30 year old has gone through several seasons seriously battling injury and trying to get himself back to top form, it’s certainly not been an easy road to the top of the Championship for Krul.

A spell at Ajax didn’t go so well, then it was better at AZ. That led him to Brighton & Hove Albion, but the Dutchman couldn’t get in front of Matt Ryan for the Seagulls.

Following weekend victory over Leeds United, which took the Canaries to the top of the league, Krul had someone waiting for him at the edge of the pitch.

De Telegraaf explain: ‘When leaving the player tunnel in the now empty stadium at Elland Road, a somewhat older lady suddenly stops at the edge of the pitch. A smile from ear to ear appears on her face as soon as she discovers Tim Krul. “Thank you!”, she whispers, embracing the Dutchman. “Thank you so much!”‘

The goalkeeper had to explain that wasn’t just any fan: “That was the boss. Just Google her name. She is well known in England.”

Delia Smith obviously hasn’t quite managed to crack the Netherlands yet.

Quizzed on how he’s ended up in this happy Norwich situation after such a tricky period, Krul answered: “Brighton was a fantastic club, but my competitor Matthew Ryan did a great job. He was later also named Brighton player of the season. The manager, Chris Hughton, then said to me: ‘Tim, you should not be a number two. You are thirty years old and just have to play.’

“Now I want to show that I can go back to the top again, back to the Premier League.”

And just to explain how content everything now is on Planet Krul, he continues: “I am now happy in Norwich, just like my family. When I get home after training, a fantastic five-year-old girl and my wife are waiting for me. So I am not bored for a moment.”
