Borussia Dortmund have made contact with Mattéo Guendouzi and his camp over a summer exit from Arsenal, report Fussball Transfers on Wednesday evening.

The midfielder spent last season on loan at Hertha Berlin and had a mixed time with the Bundesliga club, so interest from Dortmund seems rather fortunate for him.

A move to Marseille was presented as close at times by the French media, with most things said to be settled, apart from the really important one… reaching agreement with Arsenal.

Guendouzi was said to have even travelled to Marseille’s facilities to see the level there, and talk about his future with officials of the Ligue 1 side. Personal terms weren’t thought to be a problem, and then things dragged on.

Wednesday evening’s report states Marseille are still in the picture, and there’s not much more said about Dortmund interest other than that Marco Rose’s new side have initiated contact with the player.

At the very least, this will be encouragement for Marseille to hurry their efforts.
