Over the past couple of months, the news that Chelsea want Aurélien Tchouaméni is doing the rounds in Italy, and they won’t let go of it.
It appears Thomas Tuchel is desperate for a new midfielder, and the AS Monaco star seems to fit the bill down to a T.
However, there was reported competition from Juventus, who also need a man of the 21-year-old’s ilk in their squad, but their financial situation leaves a lot to be desired.
That’s why Chelsea have an advantage now, at least according to Calciomercato, as Tchouaméni ‘costs too much’ for the Serie A side.
The money they have is currently prioritised for Dušan Vlahovic of Fiorentina, and because Monaco aren’t open to a loan deal, they have to ‘turn towards other market goals in midfield’.
That, added to the fact the principality club want to ‘collect as much as possible’, we are now looking at either ‘Real Madrid or Chelsea as the main buyers’ for Tchouaméni.
Good news for the Blues.
