The Peruvian media is today full of stories regarding Rodrigo Vilca’s possible move to Newcastle United.

The original claims came from the English press, and only a couple of South American journalists were able to confirm the rumours.

One of them was ESPN’s Enrique de La Rosa. He claims that the midfielder is ‘very close’ to completing his move to the Magpies.

The report highlights the fact that the Deportivo Municipal player has a Spanish passport, which means he’d have no trouble getting a work permit for the Premier League.

Another journalist who confirms the negotiations is Carlos Benevante, from Ovacion Digital.

He says there’s only one ‘logistical inconvenience’ slowing the deal, which that the United Kingdom requires the player to spend 14 days in quarantine.

That’s the reason why Newcastle and the player’s agent Elio Casareto are working on the deal outside of the country. Carlos Benevante says the deal is ‘very close’, and this move would be the ‘bomb of the transfer market’.

According to the English media, Newcastle are paying £250k for the transfer.
