Chelsea youngster David Datro Fofana has gone from ‘bogeyman to hero’ after his strike against Napoli ended Union Berlin’s losing streak.

That’s according to Tag 24, who cover the player today and his strike against the Italian champions last night to secure a 1-1 draw.

They explain that the striker ‘stops the losing streak’ for Union, who secured their first point in 74 days with the draw against Napoli.

That stopped a series of defeats stretching back more than two months and it was thanks to Fofana ‘of all people’.

He’s had something of a difficult time at the club since arriving from Chelsea in the summer, struggling to score goals and even publically falling out with his manager last month.

That saw him suspended from the squad for a couple of games before returning to the squad and earning rave reviews for his attitude and effort.

That has now seemingly worked out for him as he bagged the equaliser against Napoli last night, a strike which ultimately secured a point, the German side’s first since picking up all three against newly promoted Darmstadt in August.

It was a big moment for the Chelsea loanee, who has gone from ‘bogeyman to hero’ and may have now managed to put Union ‘back on track’.

He appears to have reacted to his recent ‘scandal’ perfectly and the hope for him, Chelsea and Union is that he can now build on this positive moment and turn his loan spell into a success.
