João Félix would have to return to Atlético Madrid after this season since Chelsea signed him on a dry loan deal in January.
Thursday’s Marca states the La Liga side’s plans for the summer will be dictated by where the 23-year-old will play next season.
The forward hasn’t shown signs of revaluing himself at Chelsea so far [two goals from 15 games], either to return to Atlético or seal a permanent move away from them.
Diego Simeone’s side have performed well since the Portugal international left on loan to the west London club. His relationship with Los Rojiblancos manager was broken and that could be a concern for the club again, if the player returns to Madrid.
This could also change their plans for the summer because Atlético were hoping to collect €100m for Félix’s sale and use the funds to sign two new fullbacks and a replacement for Yannick Carrasco.
Atlético aren’t losing hope to find a solution for Félix and have two ‘assets’ in this regard. The first one is the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, and the second is Chelsea owner Todd Boehly.
Mendes will have to find a club for his client and that could be Chelsea, if the American billionaire decides to do a ‘madness’ in the next window.
The report states this could be a possibility considering Boehly has prioritised ‘flashiness over tactical concepts’.
If that happens, it will open the door for Félix to have a ‘second chance to shine once and for all’ at Chelsea.
To sum it up, Atlético are looking to get rid of Félix permanently and are hoping Mendes or Boehly can help them find a solution for the player.
