According to Turkish newspaper Fanatik, Besiktas board have rejected Liverpool’s Loris Karius pleas to return to Germany due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
It’s reported the German goalkeeper wanted to return to his home country with his girlfriend after the Turkish Süper Lig was postponed due to the current situation in the country.
Fanatik claim the Liverpool owned player informed the Besiktas hierarchy that he didn’t want to stay in Turkey and he’s starting to lose patience with the situation. However, they’ve reportedly stood firm and denied his request.
As a result, the 26 year old will be staying in Turkey for the time being as the county’s Football Federation are looking for ways to start the league again next month. The Süper Lig club were expected to restart training next week but it seems that this will not happen.
Karius is expected to return to Liverpool in the summer despite Besiktas having a right of redemption to make his move permanent, as the Istanbul side allegedly don’t have the funds to purchase him outright.
