On Monday news came from Croatia that Rangers player Borna Barisic had suffered a ‘muscle rupture’ and was a big doubt for his country during the current international break.
Barisic was one of several doubts for Croatia, and manager Zlatko Dalić was clearly worried: “The situation isn’t good, Marcelo Brozovic didn’t play on Sunday for Inter through injury, Borna Barisic has a muscle rupture… This is the current situation, and in a few hours I will know who we will count on and whether I will call new players.”
Tests appear to have taken place on several players, including the Rangers defender, and it’s not been good news.
The 25 year old is one of five Croatia players who have joined up with the national squad, only to now leave through injury, report 24Sata on Tuesday.
It will be a blow, because a move to Rangers and good start to the season under Steven Gerrard had seen Barisic really move into contention for the national team, and he convinced some onlookers during the last international break.
At least Gerrard will now get his player back and not have to worry about the muscle injury being made worse.
