Dundee manager Paul Hartley has given some indication Greg Stewart will be with the club this season following their defeat to East Fife at the weekend. Stewart only has 12 months left on his contract with the SPL club, and has been linked with a move to Leeds United in recent weeks.

Speaking to the Dundee Evening Telegraph, Hartley confirmed Stewart has returned to training after he picked up an injury during pre-season training in Austria.

The Dundee manager said he hoped Stewart is fine to play against Dumbarton because he believes any team would miss a player like the 24-year-old, saying he brings something different in terms of creativity.

“Stewart will hopefully be OK for Dumbarton. He will be back training. Any team would miss him. Hopefully, he will be able to give us a boost,” said the Dundee boss on his star forward.

There have recent claims Stewart wants to leave Dundee this summer, and a move to England is his most likely option. However, despite the interest from Leeds United, Hartley has always maintained the forward is in his plans for this season, whilst the club leaders have stated they won’t sell the player on the cheap if he were to move in this window.
