Blackburn Rovers star Ben Brereton Díaz has moved to ease any worries about an injury picked up on international duty with Chile.
That’s according to ESPN Deportes, who carry quotes from the forward after he was interviewed in the Arturo Merino Benítez Airport on his way back to England.
The Blackburn star has been with his nation for this international break in which they took on Paraguay in a friendly.
He started that game for La Roja but was hauled off in the 51st minute after falling down with an apparent injury in his right leg.
He was replaced by youngster Alexander Aravena, leading to concerns that he could be set to spend an extended spell on the sidelines.
That would be a major blow for Blackburn, where Diaz remains a key player in their push for a place in the play-offs this season with 12 goals and four assists in the league to date.
But he has moved to allay those fears, insisting his removal from the game was a precautionary measure and nothing more.
“My leg is fine, my hamstring was tense and if I kept running, it could get worse. But now it’s fine and now I’ll go back to Blackburn,” he told TNT Sports at the airport.
“It was an experience that I enjoyed. It was a great victory for us, and all the boys put everything into achieving it. It was good to win and the atmosphere in the stadium was incredible.”
