On Friday, Blackburn Rovers omitted Arnór Sigurðsson from their 25-man squad for the Championship.

The winger was frustrated and surprised with Blackburn Rovers’ decision and stated they have left him in an ‘impossible situation’. The transfer windows across the major European leagues have closed, making it difficult for him to find a new club.

Sigurðsson can move to Sweden where the window is open until March 25th and Fotboll Direkt looks at his chances of arriving at Allsvenskan.

The Blackburn Rovers player previously had spells in Sweden at IFK Norrkoping and IF Sylvia. He’s been linked with Malmö FF and Djurgårdens IF recently as these two clubs have shown interest.

Sigurðsson’s contract at Blackburn Rovers only lasts until the end of the season but he’s turned down the two Swedish clubs.

He has no future at Ewood Park after they omitted him from the squad. Despite the latest development and interest from Malmö and Djurgårdens, the report states the Iceland international has no plans to return to Sweden.

Sigurðsson seems to wait for other European clubs and will have more options when he’ll be available for free in the summer.
