On Wednesday, TV2 journalist Arilas Ould-Saada reported Blackburn Rovers have jumped in with a late bid to sign Viking FK’s David Brekalo.
Orlando City have been negotiating with the Norwegian club for the 25-year-old and the Championship side now want to hijack their deal.
TV2 have provided more information on Blackburn Rovers’ attempt to try and sign Brekalo on deadline day.
On Wednesday, the MLS side and Viking came close to reaching an agreement for a deal worth NOK 32.5m [€2.8m], with the latter also entitled to 15% of the profit from his future sale.
Blackburn Rovers entering the scene has resulted in a new drama as they are ‘carrying out a late coup attempt’ to secure the centre-back’s services.
It’s claimed the fee offered by Jon Dahl Tomasson’s side is ‘larger’ than the one proposed by Orlando City.
TV2 make no mention of the details of Blackburn Rovers’ offer and add that some sources have indicated their proposal is for a loan with an option to buy.
Brekalo is keen on leaving and met the Viking management yesterday, when his transfer wish was granted.
Thursday’s Rogalands Avis claims the Slovenia international initially wanted to stay until the summer, before changing his mind.
Brekalo wants to leave ‘immediately’, which is why he hasn’t trained regularly with Viking. Whether that’ll be to Blackburn Rovers or Orlando City needs to be determined.
