According to a claim in the Italian media, Davy Klaassen’s proposed loan move to Napoli looks to be off.

The Everton outcast has been linked with the Serie A side in the past 24 hours, and looked close to joining.

Reporting from the Hotel Melia where agents are getting last minute deals sealed TMW have reported there is ‘black smoke’ on Klaassen’s move to Italy, as in reference to the election or not of a new Pope.

Earlier today we covered reports from the Italian media that talks had stalled because of an issue with image rights. It was suggested this could be dealt with, but it now seems because of this Klaassen will be staying at Everton.

The Dutchman signed for Everton last summer from Ajax, and so far he’s yet to convince in England.

Klaassen may struggle to get into Sam Allardyce’s team for the remainder of the season, but some might say it gives the Everton boss another option in midfield.
