Moussa Dembele burst onto the scene in his final season at Fulham when he scored 15 goals and registered six assists in the Championship.
The forward’s form went on to attract interest from several clubs from England and across the continent, but it was Celtic who convinced him to move to the Scottish Premiership rather than going elsewhere.
In Saturday’s edition of French newspaper L’Equipe, they look at the player’s progress over the years and have comments from other footballers, who are close to the current Lyon forward.
One of them is Royal Antwerp defender Dylan Batubinsika, Dembele’s childhood friend, who explains the 22-year-old has always taken risks in his career and has a clear plan for his future.
When Dembele was attracting interest from the top clubs, Batubinsika found it strange for his friend to join Celtic.
“Everything he did from the beginning was risky but his most bizarre decision was Celtic. I told him, ‘You have Chelsea on you and you go to Celtic?’ But he knew,” the Antwerp player said.
“He has a career plan, he reflects on it all. He had his idea in mind, no matter what people might think.”
After spending two seasons with Brendan Rodgers’ side, the Frenchman left Celtic and made a switch to Lyon in the summer.
