Fotomac have reported Birmingham City winger Kerim Frei wants to return to Besiktas this summer. The Turkish international joined Birmingham City during the last winter transfer window, which at the time was labelled a surprise move by the Turkish media.
It’s been claimed Frei’s father Huseyin Koyunlu has recently informed the Besiktas board his son is currently unhappy at Birmingham City, and if possible the player will happily re-join Besiktas after just six months in England.
The Championship club’s form dipped when Gianfranco Zola took charge of the club, and they had to save themselves in the last week of the season to remain in the Championship. Birmingham City hired Harry Redknapp after the dismissal of Zola, which proved to a masterstroke by the club’s board.
However, subsequently Frei thinks he isn’t going to get regular football if Redknapp remains in charge of Birmingham City. The former West Ham United boss has signed a contract stay at the club for another season, and it’s thought, at least by the Frei camp, that he’ll bring in his own players this summer.
