Just as news was reaching the Italian media about a Birmingham City approach for Robin Quaison, it also emerged that the footballer is receiving attention from elsewhere.
It’s not great news for Gianfranco Zola’s hopes of signing the Palermo player, because AS Roma have now made an approach too, according to Il Tempo.
Quaison’s contract with Palmero expires at the end of the current season, which obviously makes him an attractive prospect cost-wise, and Il Tempo say Roma have started talks over a low cost January deal.
Roma may well prove to be more attractive to Quaison than Birmingham City, and Zola may have to move on to other targets. Palermo are also likely to try and keep the player, and offer him an extension to his current deal.
At least Roma interest shows Gianfranco Zola is identifying the right kind of targets for Birmingham City.
A move to the Giallorossi would be excellent for the 23 year old attacking midfielder.
