Birmingham City midfielder Fran Villalba is awaiting approval from the league to complete a move to Almería.

The Spanish midfielder, who only joined Birmingham in the summer, is a prime target for the club this month and we covered reports that a deal was in place.

However, it is yet to go through, with those same reports suggesting that he had to wait for approval from the league before he could fly over for a medical and complete the deal.

What the league had to approve wasn’t specified, but according to La Voz de Almería, it is an issue over wages.

The newspaper reports that the negotiations between Birmingham and Almería are on track and ‘it seems’ that the midfielder will make the move in this window.

Negotiations between both clubs began a while ago, and agreement between them has been in place for days, with the midfielder waiting for the news to pack up and head to the Spanish club.

However, the move has not been made official because Professional Football League (in Spain) must give them permission to do so due to salary limits in place.

So far they are yet to give the ‘green light’ for the move to go through, holding up the whole process, although La Voz seem comfortable that it will happen at some point.
