After Joe Hart’s loan spell at Torino last year, another Englishman could end up in Serie A next season, or he could end up mirroring the goalkeeper even further by spending some time at Birmingham City.

That player is Arsenal’s Carl Jenkinson, whose time at the Emirates appears to be coming to an end ahead of his contract expiring next summer.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Sassuolo in Italy have turned to the 25-year-old to bolster their right-back slot as they look to improve on a slightly disappointing 2016/17 campaign that saw them finish 10th.

However, the Serie A outfit are apparently facing competition from Birmingham City, with Harry Redknapp far from done in the transfer market, already attempting to bring Afriyie Acquah to St Andrew’s.

If this is the case, Carl Jenkinson has a rather interesting decision to make.

Does he try and get away from his Arsenal nightmare by moving to the Midlands with Birmingham City or does he embrace a completely new experience and give Italy a go?

Either way, we can’t see the Gunners asking for all that much.

After all, he only made five appearances in all competitions last season, and he’s only got one year left on his contract.
