Billy Gilmour moved to Napoli from Brighton this summer and this week he could make his first start for the club in the Coppa Italia.
There’s been praise from the Italian media for the Scotland midfielder, with there being reported the arrival from Brighton has already impressed in training.
There is now further hype in Italy about the midfielder’s upcoming start against Palermo, with Corriere dello Sport taking a deeper dive into the player’s situation and abilities.
They hail Gilmour’s professionalism and compare his skillset to Stanislav Lobotka. They praise how he is already trying to settle into the culture at Naples, making efforts to learn Italian and settle in generally.
It isn’t just Lobotka that they compare the midfielder to, though.
He is also compared to Pink Floyd’s guitarist and singer David Gilmour. Corriere dello Sport report that Billy, like David, dictates the tempo of play and is ‘a bit electric and a bit acoustic’ in his approach.
The likelihood is that he will start alongside Lobotka tomorrow and they expect the Scotsman to ‘rock football’.
Billy Gilmour… from Brighton to Napoli’s football-rockstar in waiting. No pressure then!
