Bastian Schweinsteiger’s first season at Manchester United was a frustrating one. Injuries hampered the extent of Schweinsteiger’s involvement, and at times it looked like Manchester United were losing out to Germany in terms of getting the player fit.
Last week Schweinsteiger, perhaps unexpectedly, retired from international football, so he can concentrate fully on his club career.
Bild say Schweinsteiger has absolutely no intention of leaving Manchester United and intends to see out his contract with the Premier League club.
If recent reports that Jose Mourinho wants Schweinsteiger to leave are correct, then Bild say the manager will have to be forceful and make it absolutely clear to the midfielder that he won’t be getting games next season.
Then, and only then, would Schweinsteiger consider leaving the club. The German newspaper say Mourinho has so far given no indication to Schweinsteiger that he wants him to leave.
