Among the many rumours which followed Xavi’s comeback to Barcelona this week, there’s the one about Francisco Trincão.

Loaned to Wolverhampton Wanderers until the end of the season, it’s been said the midfielder could return to the Camp Nou and be part of the revolution at the Catalan side.

Those stories have of course been getting coverage in Portugal, and to talk about the possibility, outlet Record found someone who backs up Trincão’s return to Barcelona.

The newspaper spoke to José Carvalho Araújo, who coached the Wolves player for several years at SC Braga’s academy. He claimed the 21-year-old would now be ready to succeed at Barça, since his first experience at the Camp Nou happened with bad timing.

“I believe that Trincão would fit like a glove. He’s comfortable with having a ball between the lines and creating imbalances. He would fit much better now than when he was there,” João Araújo told Record.

Since joining Wolves, Trincão has nine appearances for the club. The Molineux side even have a buying option over him, although in case Barcelona do call him back, it’s more likely that his future will depend on his decision.

“I think he’s in the best league in the world. I believe he’s satisfied. He’s had more opportunities, he’s doing well at Wolverhampton and growing within the Premier League. But Barcelona are Barcelona. They are one of the great European clubs, with an incredible story and bigger than Wolves,” said Araújo.

“I think that today he feels happy, plays, evolves and develops other skills that English football requires. Playing for Barcelona with a different way of being and with Xavi being able to make that attractive football come back and a domain of other times, it’s an excellent step for Trincão’s career.”
