Wolves signed Willy Boly on a season-long loan deal from FC Porto last summer, where he reunited with his former coach Nuno Espírito Santo.
The French defender was one of the standout players in the Championship over last season. He played a key role – in Wolves’ defence – in helping the English club achieve promotion to the Premier League by winning the second tier club competition in England.
Reports in Portugal and France suggested that Wolves will take the option of signing Boly on a permanent deal. France Football earlier reported the player is keen on extending his stay in England after becoming a fan favourite at Molineux Stadium. He was recently reported to be on the verge of signing a long-term contract with Nuno Espírito Santo’s side.
Wolves fans’ hopes of signing Boly on a permanent deal could soon be a reality. Porto director of communications Francisco J. Marques has spoken to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo and explained how much money his side can spend in bringing new players this summer.
During the course of the interview, Marques revealed Wolves have “activated the option” of signing Boly for €12 million.
“…And 12 million from Boly, because Wolverhampton have already activated the option,” Marques explained.
That’s nice for the club’s fans to hear.
