Everyone wants a piece of the Jadon Sancho to Manchester United story these days, even the Italians.
While the vast majority of the updates on the situation have come from Germany, which is entirely understandable, some in Italy, such as Gazzetta dello Sport, are trying to jump in on the action.
The Italian newspaper has a rather big article on Manchester United wanting the Borussia Dortmund star, describing it a ‘unique story’.
Turning down an offer from the Red Devils last summer, the Germans’ ‘no of pride did not prove a satisfactory move’, as Sancho endured a rather poor season by his standards.
However, ‘at Old Trafford, they still count on him a lot’, which is why they have come forward with a new offer, albeit reduced.
It was nothing formal, as explained in Germany, but it was there, and Dortmund are ‘currently evaluating the situation with less certainty’.
Down his end, Sancho ‘continues to insist that he wants to leave and, even recently, refused to renew the contract expiring in 2023’.
Because of this, Dortmund aren’t left with much choice other than ‘to be satisfied with the British proposal’.
Seeing their income diminish during the pandemic due to the lack of fans, ‘the air of crisis has also reached the rich Ruhr’, whose bank balance ‘is much less prosperous than in the past’.
All this needs to be taken into account, and could evidently lead to a Sancho sale.
Still, we’re not there yet, but there’s a feeling this could be the right time for all parties to strike a deal.
