Over the past few days, reports from the British press have talked about the possibility of Tanguy Ndombele leaving Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

Two days ago, The Times explained the Frenchman is ‘increasing likely’ to leave the north London club.

At the end of the same report, it was also mentioned Spurs are interested in Southampton’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg. Their interest in the Saints midfielder was initially mentioned by Sky Sports.

The Denmark international has now responded to the rumours of José Mourinho’s side wanting him.

“It’s a big club and I also think Christian Eriksen has positive memories from there,” the Southampton player told Viaplay Sport Live, as reported by Danish newspaper BT.

“The most important thing is that I concentrate on Southampton and concentrate when the season starts again, I can continue where I left off. Whatever happens in the future, you have to take it as it comes.”

Højbjerg’s contract at Southampton lasts until 2021 and he hasn’t done anything to dismiss the recent reports linking him to Tottenham.

The 24-year-old parted ways with Søren Lerby at the end of last year and is now represented by super-agent Pini Zahavi.

Earlier in February, BT reported it’s unclear if changing agents is to renew his contract at St Mary’s or look for a move elsewhere. The Danish outlet, however, suggest Zahavi can help the player ‘go one step further in his career’.
