If Arsenal have completely given up on Mattéo Guendouzi, and should Mikel Arteta remain in charge that certainly looks possible, then they need to find a good deal for him this summer.
The midfielder has spent this season on loan at Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin, having a mixed time with the German club. Through that period, however, he’s been able to look forward to the summer with France.
A key member of France’s U21 side, he could have also taken part in the Tokyo Olympics. Now he’s thought to have fractured a metatarsal, a big blow for the player and also for Arsenal.
RMC report that unless there’s a ‘miracle’ then Guendouzi will miss the summer U21 tournament, which kicks off at the end of this month. There’s also a chance he’d miss the Olympics, with the France squad expected to travel in mid July.
Both tournaments could have been a shop window for the Frenchman, and provided Arsenal with several options should they have decided on a sale.
