On December 20th, we relayed news from Italy that Leeds United are ‘focusing to convince’ Ronaldo Vieira to return to Elland Road.
The 23-year-old left the Whites for Sampdoria in 2018 and spent the last season on loan at Hellas Verona. His time there was cut short by an injury and the midfielder has not played a professional match since February 2021.
Sampdoria manager Roberto D’Aversa has not counted on the midfielder this term and in order to get his career back on track after struggling with injuries, a move to England has been put forward.
ClubDoria46 say the ex-England U18 international’s farewell is possible this month, even on a loan deal, so that he can regain fitness and confidence, after struggling for most of 2021. These factors could ‘push him towards a homecoming’, likely to Leeds
Vieira could return to Leeds, where their manager, Marcelo Bielsa ‘would gladly welcome him’, to try and improve the club’s poor form this season.
Although the Premier League side’s manager is keen to sign the player, the ‘unknown factor remains’… and that is Vieira’s physical condition.
