In recent weeks, Kevin Zenon has been linked with a host of clubs across Europe, with Newcastle United one of those.
The 23-year-old Argentine winger has four goals and seven assists in his time at Boca Juniors so far, also impressing for his country at the Olympics.
O Jogo in Portugal have reported on Zenon today, stating that Benfica have made contact for the player and while it was ‘informal’, they wanted to discuss potential terms of a deal.
No offer has been made yet, but the report mentions interest from Newcastle and also states Real Madrid also like the player.
If the Magpies intend to sign the winger, they would have to pay his release clause, which stands at around $18m right now.
They need to be very wary of Benfica though, as the Portuguese giants are keen on positioning himself before any other clubs for the 23-year-old and could well be considered favourites to land Zenon.
Eddie Howe’s side might have to hurry or risk missing out on a player who is clearly winning fans.
