Benfica wonderkid Tomás Tavares is featured in a long interview with Portuguese newspaper A Bola this week.
The 18-year-old is having an impressive start to his professional career, getting regular matches at right-back at such a young age.
Tavares spoke to A Bola about several objects, and it turns out he’s given a special mention to a Liverpool player in one of his answers.
A Bola asked him if he has any idols, and instead of giving usual answers like Cristiano Ronaldo or Bernardo Silva, he’d rather pick a player in his own position.
“Idol? Maybe Liverpool’s Alexander-Arnold. I identify a little with him, with his game. He is also young, but he’s a very good player and at his age has many achievements already,” Tomás Tavares told A Bola.
Trent Alexander-Arnold is only three years older than Tomás Tavares, and that’s why it’s funny to see him mentioned as an idol.
However, considering that everyone watches English football, it makes sense to see a youngster looking up to a player of his position who features for a big English club and who has just won the Champions League.
