The Portuguese press is pretty sure that Benfica midfielder Alfa Semedo is on his way to Wigan Athletic.
Newspapers Record and O Jogo both report the 21-year-old is joining the Latics on a one-year loan deal from the Portuguese giants.
Record writes the agreement does not include a buying option for the Championship side, and that’s something that ‘pleases the player’.
They say the player was not part of Benfica’s plans for the season, and the move to Wigan is ‘practically agreed’.
Newspaper O Jogo doesn’t have many details on the chase. They report it along with Filip Krovinovic’s move to West Brom.
The only interesting thing said by O Jogo is that the move to Wigan is part of a partnership between the Latics and Benfica. They say this partnership isn’t official yet.
Perhaps that’s good news for Wigan, since Benfica often have talented young players who could get some experience in English football.
