Portuguese side Benfica seem to remain interested in Chelsea wonderkid Callum Hudson-Odoi.
It’s been a couple of months since the Eagles’ interest was claimed by the English media, and now local newspaper O Jogo comes back saying the chase is still on.
They actually claim there’s a big competition for the 16-year-old, with Juventus being another big club who would like to sign him, while Bristol City and Queens Park Rangers both tried to get him on a loan deal from Chelsea.
After signing Chris Willock from Arsenal this summer, Benfica would now be planning to get more Premier League academy players in order to make money by selling them back to England in the future.
This market is seen as a goldmine for Portuguese sides, and O Jogo points out the Eagles have already made €75m by selling Ederson and Victor Lindelof this summer.
But it still sounds a bit too much for Benfica to simply steal a wonderkid from Chelsea, especially beating the competition from Juventus.
Maybe the Eagles got too excited with Willock’s signing and think they can replicate it easily. Chelsea themselves plan to make money from their young players, rather than assisting Benfica.
