On Monday, Mundo Deportivo take another look at Everton’s Barcelona signings.
It’s pointed out that Barca’s fortune is hard to believe, but ‘You have to believe it!’
There’s still a great sense of satisfaction around the Catalan club about sending Lucas Digne, Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes to Goodison Park this summer. Everton themselves are also happy with the deals and the players looked genuinely chuffed when being presented.
Everyone is a winner.
But the Catalan media believe their local club wins above all, and Mundo Deportivo suggest it could all be part of a bigger plan.
It’s stated that Marcel Brands works closely with agent Rob Jansen and that his hand may well have been involved in the transfers.
The newspaper points out that Jansen either has Frenkie de Jong among his clients, or at least works very closely with the Ajax talent. Therefore, Mundo speculate that Jansen helping the money flow into Barcelona could then help it flow out again with a move for De Jong.
Barcelona have been linked with the young Dutchman all summer and now they have added funds to help a move go through.
Everton would therefore have been part of a wider game.
