João Gomes’ firm desire to join Wolverhampton Wanderers helped them beat Lyon to sign him from Flamengo in the winter market.

The midfielder came off the bench and scored a winner on his debut for Wolves against Southampton last month. Since then, he’s made three more league appearances, which includes one start in his side’s defeat to Leeds United.

His displays for Wolves helped him receive his first call-up from Brazil for this month’s international break. The 22-year-old was an unused substitute in Seleção’s 2-1 friendly defeat to Morocco.

According to Bolavip, Gomes’ situation at the Premier League club will certainly draw the attention of Flamengo and their supporters.

Julen Lopetegui’s side have a lot of confidence in the player, so much so that they believe the South American ‘will be sold for more money’ to a top team in maximum two seasons.

It’s claimed Wolves’ ‘projection is justified’ because the midfielder is impressing in training and has also started to show it on the pitch.

The English club paid €18.7m in securing Gomes’ services in January and believe they could earn between €35m and €45m from his sale in the future.

Flamengo will be entitled to receive a percentage of the fee from the Brazilian’s future sale.
