Back when he was in charge of Juventus, Fabio Paratici went around buying a number of players because he liked them, helping his various managers in the process.
Now at Tottenham Hotspur, it’s only natural for him to cast an eye at his previous purchases to see if any of them could be available for his new club.
On Thursday, we covered claims from Calciomercato that Spurs were keen on Dejan Kulusevski, and the same outlet has pushed this even more on Friday.
Costing Juventus €40m or so two years ago, the Sweden international hasn’t exactly convinced Max Allegri so far, and ‘a sacrifice seems more and more possible’.
The idea here would perhaps be for a loan with an ‘obligation to redeem at the same amount he was purchased for or a little less’, which could entice interested clubs.
That’s when the London club are brought into play, with the website stating ‘there is always Fabio Paratici’s Tottenham, who could put its hand to the rich wallet and bring him home’.
He’s not the only one Spurs could go for, either, as Weston McKennie, who hasn’t put himself in the club’s good graces because of his ‘off-field behaviour’, having ‘violated Covid-19 protocol’ and returned from summer ‘with too many kilos to dispose of’.
This is why ‘buyers are sought immediately’, and the Premier League seems the best option, as there’s ‘especially Tottenham, where there is the former director of football Fabio Paratici, who brought him to Juventus just one season ago’.
The price tag for McKennie is ‘no less than €20m’, which is affordable for most bigger clubs in January, and we are fully expecting Spurs to be a part of them if some sort of auction takes place.
So, that’s two players who could make their way to Tottenham if the club open their wallet a little bit more in the upcoming transfer window, although that would require them putting full faith in Paratici’s knowledge of them.
