Following Brazil’s friendly against Morocco last weekend, we saw Tottenham Hotspur fullback Emerson Royal being submitted to a surgery on his knee.
Reports claimed that following the procedure, the 24-year-old would be sidelined for up to two months, and that would mean the end of the season for him with Spurs.
But it turns out that as his father was interviewed by Gazeta Esportiva, he brought some good news for Tottenham fans.
Emerson Zulu believes that due to ‘good genetics’, his son can be back in action sooner than expected.
“The surgery went well, it was really the meniscus,” Emerson Zulu told Gazeta Esportiva.
“Recovery normally can take up to six weeks, but due to Royal’s genetics, I believe he will recover soon. On Monday he will be back in England.”
Despite his ups and downs, it’s first to say Royal ended up becoming a very useful player in Tottenham’s season, as he has 32 appearances for them so far.
The Brazilian was a starter in Spurs’ most important games this year, and that means that despite Antonio Conte’ chase for another option for his place, he still had good reasons to use him.
With Royal now sidelined, Tottenham’s January signing Pedro Porro should get more chances to prove himself and complete his adaptation to English football.
